As part of a multi-year task order contract it is my expectation that the selected firms develop a strong relationship with the Department of Veterans Affairs, understand our culture, organization and challenges and in the end become an extension of my office. Your firm has done a commendable job in all areas of these expectations. More importantly than your successful designs, I believe has been your willingness to learn our specific design and contracting procedures and integrate into your designs. You have shown great leadership in offering suggestions of private sector best practice examples. Your recent effort to host a symposium on "Operating Rooms of the Future" with our surgery staff and BrainLAB Inc. was a great success and will help prepare us for starting design work on a new surgery department.

Bob Yager, Chief of Engineering Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care Systems U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs

Calvin L. Hinz Architects is knowledgeable of the long-term care and assisted living industry and the regulations that must be followed. They gave our staff opportunity for feedback and turned our needs into a quality workable design. Calvin L. Hinz Architects are timely in responding to our needs and have kept our interests first and foremost. Planning the phases in both construction projects was important for a smooth transition and Calvin L. Hinz Architects gave us the plan to make sure this would happen. I would strongly endorse Calvin L. Hinz Architects without any reservation for your project needs.

Kari A. Wockenfuss Administrator

I've had the pleasure of working with Calvin L. Hinz Architects for the past 4 years as one of three firms currently on the Omaha VA's IDIQ contract for A&E services. Their team has been very professional and they have vast expertise designing and engineering solutions for VA healthcare facilities. They have taken an active role with our in-house interior designers to establish standard design themes to improve the environment for our patients and staff and their team is always introducing new and innovative solutions to meet our design and engineering needs.

Gary L. Stuckenschmidt, Engineering Technician Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care Systems U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs

I have worked with Cal Hinz of Calvin L. Hinz Architects, P.C. for the past 20 years. Cal is regularly involved in on-going projects at Nebraska Methodist Health System, Inc. and its subsidiaries. I have found Cal to be frank, straightforward and honest in his business arrangements and can be relied upon to carry through on a project from beginning to end. Cal is consistently cheerful and enthusiastic, and demonstrates a hands-on attitude in his business dealings. I would not hesitate to recommend Cal and his firm for the services they provide.

Jerry Ellwanger, Vice President Methodist Health System

CLH staff performed above expectations in their knowledge of the specific needs for primary care, dental and mental health practices. The staff at CLH took the time to interview our staff and obtain their input into the design. They made suggestions regarding lighting needs, space design and efficiency based on their vast experience in designing such clinics. This was our first experience in building; CLH provided wonderful guidance at every step of the way and provided translation between ourselves and the builder. There guidance was invaluable; they met frequently with us and the contractors which prevented any unpleasant surprises. In addition the team we worked with was always professional and courteous. In summary, I would like to say that we were delighted with the final outcome and guidance that CLH provided to our agency. We would call them again to assist in any future building projects and consider them to be part of our team.

Rebecca Rayman Executive Director East Central District Health Department

Based on my experiences, I believe that our architectural firm should develop a strong relationship with not only me but with the staff and end users of any project. Our architect needs to understand our culture, organization, budget, and challenges and in the end become an extension of our office. We began working with CLH Architects approximately four years ago after their successful award of the VISN 23 IDIQ and a recommendation from the Omaha Veteran Affairs Medical Center. CLH has done a commendable job in all areas and have made themselves accessible and available during each project. More importantly than their successful designs, I believe, has been the willingness of the CLH team to learn our specific needs, wants and desires and integrate them into the design within the budget and timeframe. CLH Architects has shown great leadership in patient sensitive design, in meeting VA guidelines and local code requirements. From the very start of each project through completion, I found Calvin L. Hinz Architects to be very diligent and responsive to our needs, ideas, and overall participation. I have enjoyed working with Cal Hinz and his capable staff on our many renovations and additions over the years and would highly recommend Calvin L. Hinz Architects for your next project.
